Green Onion Biscuit

Updated: Apr 24, 2020

Caution! This is an extremely addictive snack/appetizer!

Have you ever been to Red Lobster, sat down and had one of their complimentary Cheddar Bay Biscuit, then had another one, and another one...and ended up asking for the 3rd round of those ridiculously addictive free biscuits?

It’s Okay if you haven’t done that, because what we are about to make here will rewrite all your memories about biscuits!

Ingredients:

  • 4 Stalks Green Onion, finely chopped

  • 2 Tsp Cooking oil

  • ¾ Tsp Salt

  • ½ Cup Butter

  • 2 ½ Cups Flour

  • 1 Tsp Baking Powder

  • 2 Eggs, beaten

  • ⅔ Cup Milk

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degree F, and prepare two baking sheets.

  2. Mix the chopped green onion, cooking oil, and salt in a small bowl to make a “green onion oil”.

  3. Take 1 tablespoon flour out of the 2 ½ Cups, and dust it all over the cold butter and the chopping board, cut and dice the butter into fine pieces with each piece about the size of a pea.

  4. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, diced butter, green onion oil, eggs and milk with a spatula until everything is just blended. No need to over mix as we don’t want the butter to melt!

  5. Use an ice cream scoop or a large spoon to scoop the dough onto the baking sheet. Place the dough about 1 to 2 inches apart.

  6. Bake for 22 to 25 minutes until the biscuit turns into a golden yellow color.

  7. Optional: turn the oven to “Broil” and bake for another 1 to 2 minutes. The color of those biscuits will now turn to a darker golden color.

  8. Transfer the hot biscuits to a cooling rack. Cool down and eat!

Tips: What to do with leftover biscuits...wait, what leftover? Exactly! Did I mention these are extremely addictive? But in the unlikely event there IS ANY leftover biscuit, it’s hardened because all that butter has turned cold and solidified. Simply reheat the biscuit in the microwave oven for 10 to 15 seconds so it’s soft and fluffy again.
